Information About Contact Lenses
Contact lenses are an alternative to glasses. Contact lenses were invented more than 100 years ago and were first made from glass; today, contact lenses are made from soft plastic. Contact lenses are small, thin discs designed so that you can place them directly on the surface of your eye.
Most often, eye doctors, or other licensed eye care professionals, prescribe contact lenses for vision problems such as nearsightedness, farsightedness and uneven focus. Eye doctors may also prescribe contact lenses to treat certain eye conditions and diseases. For example, people who have had cataract surgery, and who did not receive lens implants, may use special contact lenses.
Contact lenses are super convienent. No more clunkey glasses to deal with, push up on your nose and clean all the time. Contact lenses are comfortable, you don't even know you are wearing them, and they are easy to care for. Usually - just rinse them at night when you take them out before bed and you are finished. There are several different types of lenses for different extended wear periods of time. Some you throw away every month, some everyday. Talk to your doctor about what type of contact lens in right for you. Acuvue, Focus and Freshlook are some of the more popular brands of contact lens.
