Information About Eye Glasses
Eye glasses, or eyeglasses, are framed lenses worn in front of the human eyes generally for vision correction or eye protection. Eye glasses are typically supported by pads on the bridge of the nose and by temples placed over the ears. Eye glasses are more often called eyeglasses in North American English, occasionally spectacles in British English, and (rarely) frames or lenses. Spectacles is often shortened to specs. In hipster slang they are cheaters. Eye glasses were originally made from glass, but many are now made from plastic (often polycarbonate or CR-39) due to the danger of breakage and the greater weight of glass lenses. Some plastics also have more advantageous optical properties than glass, which is important for eye glasses. Scratch-resistant coatings can be applied to most plastic eye glass lenses giving them similar scratch resistance to glass. Anti-reflective coatings and anti-glare coatings can also be applied to eye glasses which will also improve the users vision.
Getting fitted for eyglasses is a relatively simple process which is non-invasive and pain free. When you go to the optician to for eyeglasses, you will be given an eye exam, obtain an prescription which determines the thickness of your corrective lenses, the amount of curvature of concavity. For older patients, you might be fitted for bifocals which enable you to see up close and far away. To read, look through the bottom part of the lensses and to see afare, you look straight away or toward through the top-half of the lenses.
Once you have your prescription, you will select your eyeglassframes. Don't be surprised if your frames are considerable more expensive than the lenses. They can sily account for more than 75% of the cost of your new eyeglasses if you go with designer eyewear. A pair of Coco Chanel Eyeglass frames for instance retail for over $400 just for the frames. Chanel Frames do not have fancy names so if you plan to search for them online, you will need to know a specific four-digit number. For instance, Chanel 4136 are a sleek aeronautical design, and Chanel 2102 are rectangular lenses with wide black arms with the classic Coco Chanel interlocking C' insignia. The 2101 is a semirimless design. Check out the entire Coco Chanel 2006 collection online at www.chanel.com. The Coco Chanel 2007 eyewear collection is not yet available for viewing but should be shortly.
